Property listings, land registers and product specs rarely use the same area unit. This converter moves between square feet, square meters, acres, hectares and the rest, with exact factors.
Areas scale with the square of length, so converting from feet to meters cannot use the linear factor. That is the most common way to get area conversions wrong.
How area converter works
Each unit is defined as a number of square meters. One foot is 0.3048 m, so one square foot is 0.3048² = 0.09290304 m². The tool multiplies by the source factor and divides by the target factor.
For a quick check, one hectare is a 100 m by 100 m square, and one acre is 43,560 square feet.

Worked example: a flat and a plot of land
A 75 m² flat is 75 × 10.7639 = 807.3 ft².
A 2.5-acre plot is 2.5 × 4,046.86 = 10,117 m², or about 1.01 hectares.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying the linear factor to an area. Multiplying square feet by 0.3048 instead of 0.0929 gives a result about three times too big.
- Confusing an acre with a hectare. A hectare is about 2.47 acres.
- Mixing square miles with miles squared. A “5 mile square” area is 25 square miles.
