Editorial policy

How pages on DailySmartTools are researched, written, checked, updated and corrected.

Our standard

A page is published only when its numbers can be checked. For a calculator that means the formula is stated, the method matches an accepted definition, and the worked example gives the same answer as the tool. For a guide or article it means every figure in the text has been calculated and compared against the tools.

How pages are made

  1. Scope. We choose topics from real questions people ask: how to do a calculation, how a rule works, why two sources disagree.
  2. Method. We write down the formula and its edge cases before writing the explanation, for example month ends, leap years, rounding and division by zero.
  3. Build and test. Calculation logic lives in separate code that is covered by automated tests. Worked examples are computed with that code, not by hand.
  4. Review. Text is read for accuracy and clarity, and checked for claims that need a source or a caveat.
  5. Publish and maintain. Each page shows when it was last updated. We revisit pages when a rule, rate or definition changes.

Use of AI tools

We use AI-based writing tools to help draft and edit text. They are not a source of facts. Every number, formula and example is verified against tested calculation code, and text is reviewed by a person before publishing. Claims that cannot be verified are removed or rewritten with the appropriate caveat.

Sources and accuracy

  • Conversion factors use exact definitions where they exist, for example 1 inch = 25.4 mm and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg.
  • Where practice varies by country or organisation, such as tipping customs or grading scales, the page says so rather than presenting one convention as universal.
  • We do not give personalised financial, legal, tax or medical advice. Pages on those topics explain how a calculation works and what it leaves out.

Independence

Advertising never influences a calculation or a recommendation, and we do not sell placement. See the advertising policy. If we ever include affiliate links, they will be labelled next to the link.

Corrections

If you think something is wrong, please contact us with the page address and what you expected. We check every report. If it is a real error we fix it promptly and update the date on the page. For a significant correction we add a short note describing what changed.
