How qr code generator works

The text is encoded into a grid of dark and light squares. Higher error correction levels add redundancy so the code still scans when part of it is dirty or covered: L recovers about 7% of damage, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%. The trade-off is that a higher level makes the code denser.

Keep strong contrast between the two colours, with the dark modules darker than the background, and leave a blank margin, called the quiet zone, around the code.

Worked example: a code for a printed flyer

Enter the full page address, choose level M and a size of at least 1,000 pixels, and download the SVG.

Print it at least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide and scan it with two or three phones before you print in bulk.
